Linda Starkovich Obituary

Linda K. (Webster) Starkovich July 14, 1941 - July 7, 2023 Linda K. (Webster) Starkovich July 14, 1941 - July 7, 2023. Linda, our dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin and friend peacefully passed away in the comfort of her home on July 7, 2023. The last of eight children born to Walter E. and M. Evangeline (Linder) Webster. Linda grew up in Ellensburg, attending Lourdes Academy, working at the family business, Webster's Café, and graduating from Ellensburg High School in 1959. After high school she attended Seattle University and worked for an optometrist, all the while writing letters and waiting for her high school sweetheart, Gary Starkovich, to return from his deployment with the US Navy. In 1964, Gary returned home. They soon married and Linda followed him to Oregon. While she never forgave him for moving away from family, she loved the adventures she and Gary had living and working on various USFS ranger stations. The Bear Springs Ranger Station near Mt. Hood was particularly special, as this is where friends became family. Linda raised two daughters; Katherine (Chuck) Rood of Vancouver, WA and Sandra (Rich) Jirak of Maupin, OR, in Oregon before Gary retired and they returned home to Ellensburg. Linda loved people and found happiness in the company of her friends, family and siblings. She and Gary hosted many parties, celebrations, and family reunions, creating precious memories together and for all those who attended. A loving and caring person with a great laugh, Linda served her family and community with a big heart. She belonged to several social community organizations including Beta Sigma Phi, American Legion, and Eagles. She enjoyed dancing, reading, long drives through the countryside, and playing cards. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Linda is survived by her children; grandchild, Chad (Taelyr) Rood; great grand-children, Myles and Mia; siblings, Evangeline (Jack) Forrester, Carol (Dave) Dorgan, Loree (Howard) Baumgart; Brother-in-Law, Dale Starkovich; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her husband, Linda was preceded in death by her siblings Winafred (Wayne) Thorpe, Audrey (Tom) Pattillo, Walter (Francis) Webster, and Samuel (Maxine) Webster. The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude for the overwhelming support, love, and condolences received during this difficult time. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral mass Friday, August 4th 5:00 p.m. at St. Andrew's Catholic Church, Ellensburg and interment Saturday, August 5th 11:00 am at Roslyn Veterans Cemetery, Roslyn. Reception will be held at the Ellensburg American Legion Saturday, August 5th from 12:30 - 3:30pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Linda's memory to American Legion Post #8, P.O. Thank you my dearest Aunt, for your love, your laughter, your stories and EVERY SINGLE WEBSTER REUNION! For setting the example of family first and the importance of keeping all of us together. For always inviting us to `come home´ to Ellensburg, even if we didn´t live there. You, Uncle Gary, Kathy and Sandy held the Webster family torch and I am forever grateful.

Your niece, Tija

RIP my dear friend Linda. My friend since age 5. Where ever Linda was, I was there. Her family called me Shadow! We were room mates in Seattle until she married Gary. We have always stayed in touch. Lots of Love Linda and to your whole family too. Marilyn Stevens Post
