Leo Lucas Obituary

Leo F. Lucas April 2, 1932 - October 9, 2022 Leo F. Lucas, 90, of Roslyn, Washington, passed away on October 9th, 2022, at the Washington Soldiers' Home in Orting, Washington. He was born on April 2, 1932, in Seattle, Washington, and was raised in Roslyn by his parents George and Madeleine Lucas. Leo graduated from Cle Elum High School in 1950, and later from the University of Washington in Communications.

In January 1951, Leo enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served our country for four years as a fire control technician on an aircraft carrier and was stationed at Pearl Harbor Naval Base in Hawaii. Leo and his high school sweetheart Charlene (née Butorac) were married in November 1952, and they cherished each other for 63 years until Charlene's passing in 2016. The couple had four children: Cheryl Lucas, Leanne Lucas, Myron Lucas, and Nina LeRoy.

Leo was extremely bright and an articulate speaker which led him to a career as a disc jockey for Seattle radio stations KVI and KAYO in the 1950's and early 60's. With his outgoing personality and charisma, Lee moved on to a career in sales as a manufacturer's representative in various areas, and eventually as a seafood broker before retirement. Leo was an avid storyteller and drew in his listeners while visiting and at gatherings. Always an ardent reader, Leo's other hobbies included weekend camping at Fish Lake with family and friends, following the Seahawks and Mariners, and a passion for flying single engine planes. Mr. Lucas enjoyed his retirement to the fullest and made his family his priority by spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren: Alex Lucas Baldwin, Spencer Davis, Tanner Lucas, Maddie Davis Burrell, and Carson Lucas. Leo's great-grandson Harrison Baldwin was born in March 2021.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 17, 2022 for the immediate family at the Cle Elum Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at 11:45 a.m. at the Cle Elum Senior Center, 719 E. 3rd Street 98922.
