Meredith Ann Chambers December 14, 1942 - September 21, 2022 Meredith Ann Chambers, a long time Kittitas County resident and business owner, passed away Sept 21, 2022. Meredith was born December 14, 1942 to Carl and Helen (Fletten) Erickson in Ballard, WA.

During her early years Meredith spent time traveling between Ballard and North Dakota to visit relatives.

The family settled into their new home on Lea Hill in Auburn, WA in 1945. The family home was built by her carpenter father. Family and friends assisted in the construction of their home. She enjoyed life as an only child until her brother appeared in 1949.

She had a love of animals early on. She loved cats and dogs, and moved on to horses, cows, sheep, pigs, goats, and even had a pet skunk named Petunia. There was never a time in her life that she was without animals.

She met the love of her life, George Chambers, in her early teens. They married young and began their family in Auburn, Washington. They chased the great American Dream, which led them to opportunities in Utah, Montana, Kansas and back to Washington. Meredith and George built many businesses. They raised calves for dairy farmers in Montana, boarded horses, provided hourly horse rides and hosted game shows in Stanwood, Washington. They operated pack and dude strings. They rode horses with clients into the Alpine Wilderness from Driftwood Acres in the early 1970s. In Hoquiam, Washington, they boarded horses, organized and ran Class A gaming shows, had concession stands, a feed store, and provided horse rides on the beach at Ocean Shores, Washington.

They started Smith & Chambers Salvage with their sons and a partner in Washington and eventually moved the business to Kansas. They worked all over the USA with the salvage business. After years of being on the road, they decided to stay home and started S & C Trailer Sales and Mac-A-Bee Southwest Gift shop with their daughter.

Meredith and George helped many people throughout their lives. They made many friends and were very generous.

Over the years Meredith had a variety of jobs - helping to support the family. She worked at Seattle Quilt with her mother-in-law. She made salads and pies at several local restaurants, bartended, kept books and worked in sales. She was a caregiver for her mother-in-law. She was passionate about gardening. She conquered raising tomatoes and roses in Ronald. Gardening became easy when she moved to Wapato. She loved to read, cook, make pies, play scrabble, do puzzles and to travel. Meredith had tenacity and didn't give up on anything, easily. Mostly, she loved her family. Every generation brought her great joy.

Meredith was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, George and brother, Allen. She is survived by her children Guy (Lita) Chambers, Amber (Jay) Braack and Matt (Debra) Chambers; Grandchildren - Jarrod, Taylor, Carolann, Mattie, Whitney, Jamie, and Garth; and Great grandchildren Jaelyn, Kylah, Darius, Stella, Jackson, Sawyer, Shyloh, Denver, Raya, Blakely and Bristol. She is also survived by sister-in-law, Viola Erickson (Allen), several nieces and nephews, and Muffy, her beloved and faithful dog.

We will miss Meredith but we are grateful she is no longer in pain. She is once again strolling hand-in-hand with Dad. "For where you go, so shall I follow."
