Ft. Thomas - Barbara Anne Klausing, 89, of Birmingham, AL died peacefully in her sleep on May 8, 2018 in Birmingham. Barbara raised her family in Ft. Thomas, KY and Columbus, OH and spent the last 15 years in Birmingham, AL. Barbara was a devoted wife and mother to her own 5 children, She dedicated 40 years of her life teaching elementary school kids in both Ky & OH. She taught English to Vietnamese immigrants who were sponsored by the United Methodist Church after the Vietnam War. Barbara loved Highland United Methodist Church, where she could be heard singing LOUDLY for all to hear.

Barbara was a beautiful spirit, who never had a bad day and never met a stranger; her glass was always half full and she attracted so many friends and colleagues who treasured her friendship. She was an avid reader, she had a great love for any and all kids, and had a unique bond with animals. She loved horses and taught riding. Barbara loved international travel, particularly the advance planning and research. She was a trendy dresser with a quirky flair with clothes and jewelry. She was a hostess extraordinaire and a community volunteer for Cincinnati's Children's Hospital.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond A. Klausing, her daughter Jameson Klausing, and her grandson Benjamin Kilbride. Barbara is survived by her son, Greg (Karen) Klausing, her daughters, Mary (Bill) Kilbride, Ann (Kevin) Riedel, and Susan Howard, her grandchildren, Colin (Jen) Howard, Christopher (Bethany) Howard, Elizabeth (Matt) Gewald, April (Jonathan) Adams, Austin Carnegie, Sara Kilbride, Hannah Kilbride, Adelaide Kilbride, Nathan Riedel, Madeline Riedel, 6 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, Friday, May 18, 2018 at Dobbling Funeral Home 106 S, Ft. Thomas Ave. in Ft. Thomas. Funeral Ceremony will follow at 11:00 am Friday, May 18, 2018, at the funeral home. Burial will take place in the Evergreen Cemetery Southgate, KY. Memorials are suggested to the .
