Sr. Elizabeth Mary Houston, CDP died peacefully at Holy Family Home on January 31, 2018. She was a professed member of the Congregation of Divine Providence for 72 years. Born in Columbus, Ohio in 1926 to Joseph and Beatrice Houston, she made her first profession of vows in 1945 and professed her final vows in 1950. Sr. Elizabeth Mary began her ministry of community service and pastoral care to the sick in 1945. For the next fifty eight years she served as receptionist, sacristan, activities director or pastoral care giver in hospitals, nursing homes and visiting the homebound. In 2007 she retired to Holy Family Home where she continued to assist in whatever way she could attending to the needs of others up until two weeks before she died. Her thoughtfulness and helpful ways will be long remembered especially by the Sisters she lived with at Holy Family Home. She will be missed by her religious community, the Sisters of Divine Providence, especially by her sister Pat Albert and her nieces and nephews. Her brother, Joseph and her sisters Frances Houston and Joann Veeley preceded her in death. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Chapel, Melbourne on Saturday, February 3 at 11:00 Wake Service will be at 10:00. Body was donated to Science.
