Cold Spring - John P. "Pat" Murphy Jr. 75, of Cold Spring, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, February 3, 2018. He was a retired district manager with Ryder Transportation. He was a graduate of Covington Latin High School. He was a college graduate of St. Pius X Seminary where he contemplated becoming a priest. He graduated with degrees in philosophy and theology. He coached little league baseball, Bluejay soccer; he was president of the Board of Education and Parish Council at St. Joseph Parish/Cold Spring. He was member of the Mariners Club, Disciples of Decision Stock Club, and 3 Golf Leagues where he loved to play golf and stop at Barleycorns for the 19th hole. He was devoted to Parish Kitchen. Every other week, he would go shopping for much needed socks, gloves, hats, and personal care items to donate to Parish Kitchen. In addition, he volunteered his time acting as a courier to deliver food donated from local restaurants to Parish Kitchen. He was son of the late John Paul Murphy Sr. and Mary (Herzog) Murphy. He is survived of his wife that he unconditionally loved for 52 years, Theresa (DeJaco) Murphy: Son John (Angela) Murphy III, daughters Peggy Barker (Edwin), Maureen Randle (Dan), Katie Enxel (Greg); brothers Mike Murphy, Tim (Shannon) Murphy, Maggie Murphy (Nancy) ;10 grandchildren Sean, Kiley, and Erin Murphy, Dane Barker, Ryan, Justin, and Brady Randle, Logan, Connor, and Reid Enxel; and nieces and nephews. He was an amazing father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. He left behind countless friends who he treated as family. It did not matter what your last name was, or where you came from, Pat welcomed everyone to his amazing celebrations full of games and fireworks. Memorial Visitation with the family 3-6:15 pm, Wednesday, Feb. 7 at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, 427 S. Ft. Thomas Ave, Ft. Thomas. Memorial Mass immediately following at 7 pm at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Celebration of Life Reception will follow mass in Kelley Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Parish Kitchen P.O Box 1234 Covington, KY 41012, or continue Pat's mission by donating your time or personal necessities to the Parish Kitchen.
