California - Lawrence Arthur "Art" Reis, 89, of 12-Mile, KY passed away at his home surrounded by his family on May 14th, 2018. Art was born on May 11th, 1929 to Lawrence and Martha (Faulhaber) Reis. While growing up he could always be found working on the farm, playing on the ball field, or playing music with his sister and friends. After school he went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean War where he served in Germany. He had retired from the Cincinnati Post Office after many years of delivering mail. Art was a lifelong member of Sts. Peter and Paul Church, Former Director of Farm Bureau, member of the Catholic Order of Foresters, Sts. Peter and Paul Senior Citizens and his most important was a life long farmer. As life went along he was blessed with 4 grandchildren that could always be found playing baseball in the front yard, watching the cows in the field, and tractor rides from Grandpa, which spilled over to the great grandkids receiving the same special moments. Arts many years of working the farm was a testament to his faith and hard work, after long days of walking his mail route he came home went straight outside to work the farm walking through the endless rows of tobacco, baling hay and tending the cows until sundown.

Art leaves behind his beloved wife Theresa (Kramer) Reis of 63 years together. Their sons; Bob (Sally) Reis, Mike (Theresa) Reis and Donnie (Jeannine) Reis. Siblings; Sr. Maria Grace, Fran Verst, Rhea Rauch and Leah Carmack. Grandchildren; Joe (Janie) Reis, Elizabeth (Bill) Delaney, Jeff Reis, and Rebecca (Phil) Geiman. Great Grandchildren; Brady, Grace, Natalie, Cate, Nathan, Genna, Jackson, Leah, Stella, Addison, Ella and Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Ron Reis.

A visitation will be held on Friday May 18th, 2018 at Sts. Peter and Paul Church from 4:00pm ~ 7:00pm, with the Mass of Christian Burial starting at 7pm. Sunset burial will follow with Military Honors at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Sts. Peter and Paul Church 2160 California Cross Road, California, KY 41007. Cooper Funeral Home is serving the family.
