Butler - Rick "Pappy" Hitt February 24, 1952 - January 10, 2019. Ricky Irvin Hitt was called home to our Lord and Savior on January 10, 2019. He was the beloved husband of Midge (nee Campbell) Hitt for 46 years. Rick was born in Covington, KY on February 24, 1952 to the late Marjorie and James Donald Hitt. He grew up in Newport and was a 1970 graduate of Newport High School. Pappy had a life long passion for the game of bowling. Achieving numerous perfect games and 800 series. Most notable scoring the first ever 800 series bowled at Bellewood Lanes. He broke into the bowling retail industry by managing Bellewood's pro shop in the 1980s. He founded Hitt's Pro Shop in 1991, currently located next to Walt's Center Lanes in Newport. He coached area bowlers beginning in the eighties, continuing through recent years. His most cherished students being his grandchildren. Rick is survived by his loving wife Midge, son Josh (Nicole) Hitt, grandchildren Austin, Kaylee and J.D., brothers Greg (Whitney) Hitt & Monty (Angel) Hitt, sister in-laws Peggy (John) Schweitzer and Margie Walz. He was proceeded in death by his parents and sister Debbie. In keeping with his wishes, a Celebration of Life Gathering will be held on Wednesday January 16, from 5-8 at Dobbling, Muehlenkamp-Erschell, 241 Fairfield Ave., Bellevue.
