Gary Carmack Obituary

Gary Carmack, 71, of California, Kentucky, passed away April 20, 2017. Gary was a retired carpenter, a US Army Veteran that served in the 101st Airborne Division during the Korean War, a musician, a fan of bluegrass and old country music. He enjoyed building bluegrass instruments in his workshop, making homemade wine, farming, gardening, hunting, and fishing. He was a family man, a husband, a father, Papaw, a great grandpa, a brother, and a friend-to everyone he met. He loved being surrounded by his family and friends sharing stories and playing music. He is survived by the love of his life for 50 years Leah Reis Carmack, his children, John (Linda) Carmack, Dan Carmack, Carrie (JD) Cooper, Lorrie (Barry) Hon, grandchildren, Christina Carmack, Jacob Carmack, Emily Carmack, Jarrod Carmack, Kayla Cooper, Ashley Cooper, Janalynn Hon, Cooper Hon, Adara Hon, great grandson, Aiden Carmack, sisters, Katie Scanlon, and Becky (Randy) Keith, along with a host of nieces, nephews and many friends. A visitation will be held at Cooper Funeral Home, on Monday, April 24, from 2pm-5:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Church in California, KY at 6:30pm. Sunset burial will follow at Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Sts. Peter & Paul School or Church 2160 California Cross Roads, California, KY 41007.
