Obituary: Baer Obituary

PARAMUS — Marian I. (Levey) Baer, 78, died on March 12.

A resident of Paramus for 46 years, she was a graduate of Hunter College in New York City where she earned a bachelor's degree in zoology and was later certified as a science teacher for 25 years at Public School #119 in Bronx, N.Y. She received many awards including the New York City Teachers Alliance Award as best teacher in the Bronx and continued her teaching skills as a docent and volunteer at the Bergen County Van Saun Zoo in Paramus for 20 years. She was a member of the Jewish Community Center of Paramus for 45 years and the Paramus League of Women Voters during the 1960s and early 1970s.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Allen L. Baer; her children, Herb Baer and wife Holly and their children Hayley, Matt and Mike of Mahwah, Barbara Baer and husband Paul Bober and their children Katie, Nate and Joey of San Diego, Calif. and Lauren Lewis and husband Marc and their children Ethan, Anna and Jordan of Woodcliff Lake; and her brother, Jerry Levey of West Hartford, Conn.

Services will be held at noon on Friday, March 14 at Louis Suburban Chapel, 13-01 Broadway (Route 4 West) in Fair Lawn, followed by burial at Cedar Park Cemetery in Paramus.

Memorial donations may be made to Friends of The Bergen County Zoo, 216 Forest Ave., Paramus, NJ 07652. (Checks only and reference Marian I. Baer).
