Dennis Van Wyk Obituary

VAN WYK - Rev. Dennis J., 55, of Englishtown died Friday. Born in Hackensack, he earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Central College in Pella, Iowa and a Master in Divinity from New Brunswick Theological Seminary, New Brunswick. A minister in the Reformed Church of America, he served as pastor to the congregations of the Brick Reformed Church, Montgomery, N.Y. and the Old Brick Reformed Church; Marlboro. In recent years, he served as an Interim Minister for the Reformed Church of Highland Park, and finally as Interim Senior Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan. In New Jersey, he had served on the Board of Theological Education in the Reformed Church in America at New Brunswick Seminary, and as the Stated Clerk of the Classis of New Brunswick, N.J. from 1992 - 1999. He is predeceased by his mother, Helen Zurheide Van Wyk. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Mary E. Van Wyk, a son and daughter in law, Robert and Amara Van Wyk, Edison; his father, Edwin R. Van Wyk, Gilboa, NY; a sister, Bonnie Van Wyk, Mahwah; and a brother and sister in law, James and Jody Howard, Bergenfield. Rev. Dennis Van Wyk's life and service will be celebrated with a Memorial Service on Saturday, Sept. 7th at the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan. at 2:00 P.M. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rev. Dennis Van Wyk Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o New Brunswick Seminary (17 Seminary Place, New Brunswick, N.J. 08901 or the Memorial Fund of the First Presbyterian Church of Manasquan, 16 Virginia Avenue, Manasquan, N.J. 08726. The Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.
