Henry P., age 70, of Lecanto, Florida passed away March 9, 2013 at his home after a long battle with cancer. A native of northern New Jersey, he was a member of the first graduating class of DePaul Catholic High School where he starred in football, basketball and baseball. After graduating from Tampa University he taught at DePaul Catholic, Pequannock, and Clifton High Schools. He coached many sports, but wrestling was his passion. He is a Hall of Fame Member at DePaul Catholic, Pequannock HS, Morris County Coaches and District 4 Wrestling. He was a pioneer in the gym business, opening North Jersey Nautilus and Wrestling Plus in Pompton Lakes. He retired to Florida in 1997 where he was active in the community.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Karsen was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn, who passed away in 1994 and his wife of 45 years, Sharon, who passed away in 2009.
Mr. Karsen is survived by two sons, Henry and Keith; daughter-in-law, Maureen; three grandchildren, Kendra, Ryan and Reed Karsen of Pompton Plains, NJ and one brother, Ted.
A Memorial Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March, 20, 7:00-9:00 P.M. at Our Lady of Consolation Church, 1799 Hamburg Turnpike, Wayne, NJ 07470.
