Stratos Mavros

Stratos (Scott), 85, of West Milford passed away on April 19, 2013. Born in New York City, he lived in Fort Lee and Franklin Lakes before moving to West Milford in 1998. Prior to his retirement in 2008, he worked for Parmatic Filter Corporation in Branchville, where he formerly served as chief engineer. Prior to that, he was an employee of the Bendix Corporation, and was also involved in the design of the Convair B-58 Hustler. He also worked for Bell Labs. He graduated from Stuyvesant High School in NYC prior to graduating from Oklahoma State University (formerly Oklahoma A&M) with a degree in Engineering and also served in the Marine Corps. Stratos was a parishioner of St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church in Wyckoff.
Beloved husband of the late Catherine (nee Anastasio). Devoted father of his daughter Elena, son Stu, and his wife Paula.
Funeral Services Thursday 10:30 AM at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes followed by an 11 AM Funeral Service at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Wyckoff. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus. The family will receive family and friends on Tuesday from 7-9 PM and on Wednesday from 11 AM-2 PM and 7-9 PM.
