Mahwah - JOHNSTONE, Alexander - 83 -of Mahwah passed away peacefully on January 8, 2019.

Devoted father of Karen Lipari and her husband John, and Scott Johnstone.

Loving grandfather of Ashley and Lauren Lipari.

Born in Manhattan he served his country honorably in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Prior to his retirement he was a Lithographer and a Special Police Patrolman in the town of Norwood where he raised his family. Alex was an avid car enthusiast who joined the New Jersey Open Road Thunderbird club in 2002 and was Co Editor of the club newsletter "The Thunderheard" which won several awards. Alex was also a member of CTCI -Classic Thunderbird Club International, where he attended many conventions throughout the Country.

Alex truly lived his life to the fullest; chatting with friends and family, reading books, car shows and especially spending time with daughter and twin granddaughters. Alex also had the ability to reach people in a deep and positive way.

The family will receive family and friends on Sunday from 2-6 pm at Vander Plaat-Vermeulen Memorial Home, 530 High Mountain Road, Franklin Lakes.

Funeral Services Monday, 10:00 am at the funeral home

Interment at Laurel Grove Memorial Park, Totowa, NJ
