Englewood Cliffs - ARVANITIS, Demetrios on September 8, 2018 of Englewood Cliffs, N.J., age 89. Demetrios was born on August 15, 1929 in Bordonia, Greece and was one of seven children. He came to the United States in 1956 and married the love of his life Pota (nee) Georgatsos in 1961. Demetrios was the owner of Boulevard Mart and Liquors until his retirement.

Beloved husband to Pota (nee) Georgatsos Arvanitis. Devoted father to Peter Arvanitis and Dr. Georgia Arvanitis-Agaliotis and her husband Dr. Mario Agaliotis. Adored grandfather to Alexandra Marie Agaliotis and Victoria Grace Agaliotis. Cherished brother to George Arvanitis, Panagiota Kalomiris, Kostoula Kolokithas, the late Nikolaos Arvanitis, the late Stavroula Kosivas and the late Stamata Hios.

Demetrios will be remembered as a kind, intelligent, loving man. He loved his family dearly. His wife Pota whom he cherished was at his side until the end. His children and especially his two granddaughters were his joy. That infectious smile and his infinite wisdom will be missed by all who knew him. May his memory be eternal.

Funeral from the A.K. Macagna Funeral Home 495 Anderson Avenue Cliffside Park, N.J. on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 9:00am thence to St. John the Theologian Church where a Funeral Service will be held at 10:00am. Interment to follow at George Washington Memorial Park Cemetery in Paramus, N.J. The family will receive their friends Friday 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to these charities that were near and dear to Demetrios Arvanitis and his family, Reed Foundation 25 Potash Road Oakland, New Jersey 07436 or The Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society of St. John the Theogian in Tenafly, N.J.
