Dorothy Anne House Pangburn, 88, of Ridgewood N.J., passed away peacefully on June 30th, 2018.

Dorothy, daughter of George and Dorothy Adeline House was born on November 28th, 1929. After graduating high school in Phillipsburg, N.J., Dorothy attended Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J., where she graduated 20th in her class with a master's degree in English and History. While attending Montclair, she joined the theater's Player's Club where she met her husband-to-be, David Huyler Pangburn. They were married on June 28, 1956. She worked as an elementary school teacher in Park Ridge, N.J. until 1961 when she became a full-time mother. She also worked as a supplemental teacher for Ridgewood schools while raising her family.

Dot and Dave spent the school year in Ridgewood and summers at the family camp on lake Winnipesaukee. She and Dave were avid square dancers and belonged to square dance clubs in N.J. and N.H. After retirement Dot volunteered extensively, working at the Schoolhouse Museum in Ridgewood, the Ridgewood Library and was a member of the Ridgewood Historical Society, as well as the Historical Society of Gilford N.H. Dot was an avid reader and loved to travel. She and Dave visited 38 countries during their retirement.

Dorothy is survived by her sons Donald Pangburn of Gilford, N.H.; and Douglas Pangburn and his wife Eileen of Closter, N.J.; five grandchildren, Casey, Zoey, and Shane Sharps and Brian and Julia Pangburn; sister-in-law, Maxine House and a nephew Jim House and his family. She was preceded in death by her husband David and brother, Albert House.

A service will be held at Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 233 South Highwood Ave. Glen Rock, N.J. at 12 p.m., Saturday, August 11th, repast immediately following. In lieu of flowers, send contributions to the Ridgewood Historical Society, 650 East Glen Ave., Ridgewood, N.J. 07450. Arrangements entrusted to the C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home, Ridgewood.
