Frank Sebest Obituary

SEBEST Frank M., 87, of Fair Lawn, NJ passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010. Raised in Cliffside Park, NJ, he was a member of the high school's first state championship basketball team and was honored as an inductee of the Cliffside Park Hall of Fame. He honorably served his country with the Navy during World War II being awarded a commendation and medal for meritorious service. After the war, he attended St. John's and Temple Universities. Frank played professional basketball for the Williamsport Billies in Pennsylvania and also played two years in the St. Louis organization. Prior to retiring, he was employed with Hemingway Trucking Company in Carlstadt. Beloved husband of Christine (Capitelli) Sebest. Loving father of Michael Sebest and wife Donna and Janet Sebest. Cherished grandfather of Cara Sebest. Dear brother of Daras McCormick and husband George, the late Helen DiNino and surviving spouse Raymond, the late Anne Sebest and the late Joseph Sebest and wife, Elizabeth. A funeral mass is planned for Thursday, December 2, 2010, 10:15 AM at St. Catharine R.C. Church, 905 South Maple Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ. The family will receive relatives and friends Wednesday 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Vander Plaat Colonial Home, Inc., 13-31 Saddle River Road, Fair Lawn, NJ, 201-797-3500. I will always remember playing basketball up the country with uncle Frank. His set shots were amazing, he never missed. I will miss you.
