George B. Arnold

George B. Arnold, Jr., 93, of Hackensack, NJ, formerly of Maywood, NJ, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017, at Prospect Heights Care Center in Hackensack.

George was born and raised in Phillipsburg, NJ on April 28, 1924 to the late George B. and Helen Beatrice Rice Arnold.

George worked on Madison Avenue most of his life and retired as Assistant Treasurer of Ogilvy & Mather in 1986. He was a graduate of Phillipsburg High School and graduated Cum Laude from Rider University in 1948. George served his country in the US Army during WWII. George, along with his late wife, had a passion for volunteering and loved traveling. Most importantly, George loved spending time with family and friends.

George was a member of The Second Reformed Church in Hackensack for over 60 years, where he served as Treasurer for 45 years. He was a member of N.J. CPA for over 50 years, was past President of the Hackensack Medical Center Foundation, and was a member of Old Sturbridge Village, Sturbridge, MA where he served on & chaired the Audit Committee for many years. George was also a member of Phillipsburg Lodge #52 F&AM for over 60 years.

George is survived by a son, Kenneth H. Arnold and his wife, Kathy, of Glen Gardner, NJ; a daughter, Elizabeth Mullan and her husband, Robert, of Oradell, NJ; two grandchildren, Michael Arnold and his wife, Erin, and Amy Veet and her husband, Clark, and a great-granddaughter, Margaux Arnold. He was predeceased by his high school sweetheart and wife of 65 years, Harriet Elizabeth Transue Arnold, who passed away in 2012 and a brother, Howard.

Funeral Services will be private at the convenience of the family. The Rupell Funeral Home, LLC; 465 Memorial Parkway; Phillipsburg, NJ 08865 has been entrusted with the arrangements.
