George E., 101, of Oradell, NJ died on Tuesday, February 4, 2014. Devoted son of the late Lilly and Girolamo Ciulla. Dear brother of Julius "Jules" Ciulla of Paramus and the late Joseph Ciulla, Victoria Leonardi and Nina Ciulla. Beloved uncle of Cynthia Martel and her husband John, Barbara Vander Veer and her husband Henry, Julia Vogt and her husband Donald, Roy Leonardi and his wife Bonnie, Jerome Leonardi and his wife Jodi, Thomas Leonardi and his wife Claire, the late Maggie Friedland and her husband Lewis and many loving grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind many cherished cousins and friends. George was born in New York and grew up in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Oradell In 1952. He attended New Utrecht High School where he excelled in football and track and then continued his education at The Pratt institute. When his Country called him to duty, he proudly served in the Army Air Corp, 13th Air Force, 307th Bomb Group in the Pacific Theatre seeing combat in Bismark Archipelago, Central Pacific, Guadalcanal, New Guinea and the Northern Solomons. After the war, George took a job with ITT, and in his 30 years of service as an International Sales Manager, traveled extensively throughout Central and South America and became a member of The Telephone Pioneers. During his many travels, he taught himself to speak 5 different languages, becoming fluent in all. George always entertained his family and friends with his stories of growing up in Brooklyn, his war escapades, his adventures in South and Central America and was well known for his "2 fingers" of Scotch. He loved his family deeply and took pride in all of their accomplishments. Friends and relatives are invited to visit 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Road, Oradell. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, 10:30 AM at St. Joseph's R.C. Church, Oradell. Interment to follow at Maryrest Cemetery, Mahwah.
