Georgette W. Ulrich Obituary
Georgette W. Ulrich

Ho-Ho-Kus - Georgette (Georgie) Wellinghorst Ulrich, 76, died peacefully on January 9th, 2019, with her loving husband David at her side. Georgie, as she was known to her friends, was born in 1942 to George and Marion Wellinghorst and grew up in northern New Jersey. She moved with her parents to Ho-Ho-Kus, NJ when Georgie was in the 8th grade, and would live there for the rest of her life, ultimately splitting time between Ho-Ho-Kus and Venice, Florida.

Georgie graduated from Ridgewood High School and then Endicott College. After college, Georgie spent several years working in the staff training department at Lord & Taylor and then later joined her husband at the family business in Ridgewood, NJ. She was also involved in local charities, including supporting the Valley Hospital in Ridgewood.

Georgie was an energetic, funny, and strong woman. She could make others laugh, she was a caring and thoughtful friend, and most of all, she was a loving wife and mother. She loved to play golf, and enjoyed many great times with friends at the Ridgewood Country Club, where she and her husband David were members for 45 years. Georgie also had a passion for seeing new places, and she and David traveled extensively. She was a master at the New York Times Crossword puzzle, a ritual she enjoyed every day. And she was at her happiest when surrounded by family and friends, a dinner of lobster or crabs, and a well-made Bombay martini.

Georgie was first diagnosed with cancer while her son, Greg, was still in elementary school. A determined fighter, she battled cancer not only to attend her son's 8th grade graduation, but to continue on for over thirty more years, ultimately celebrating her 51st wedding anniversary with David, and watching their grandchildren grow up.

Georgie is survived by her husband, David, their son, Greg, their grandchildren, Kate and John, and other extended family members. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Loveland Center in Venice, Florida, or to the .
