Jennie Rose Rizzo

Jennie Rose Rizzo (nee Totaro) passed away peacefully in New York Presbyterian Hospital at the age of 84, in the presence of her loving family. She was a lifelong resident of Hoboken and graduate of A.J. Demarest High School and Secretarial School.

Her early employment included positions as secretary to the purchasing agent at both the American Lead Pencil Company and Stevens Institute of Technology. Following the birth of her children, she returned to work and was employed by the American and Pacific Company for 10 years. Later she served as secretary in the Hoboken Board of Education for 25 years until her retirement in 1999, where she was recognized for her dedication, work ethic and professionalism.

She was predeceased by her devoted husband Michael, her loving parents, Frank and Rose Totaro, and her endeared siblings, Marie Versaci, Angelo (Charlie) Totaro, caring in-laws, Raffaele & Lina Caporrino, Marietta Lisa and Giuseppe Rizzo.

A beloved mother, she leaves to mourn her passing, her loving children, Annmarie, Frank and James Rizzo, daughter-in-law, Donna and two cherished grandchildren, Michael and Jennifer, sister-in-law Angelina Rizzo, brothers-in-law Joseph Versaci and Dominick Lisa and a host of nieces and nephews.

A member of the Monte San Giacomo Ladies Auxiliary, she served as treasurer for 40+ years. She was also a member of the Thomas A. Gallo Civic Association and the Padre Pio Prayer Group at St. Ann's Church.

A devoted catholic and faith-filled woman, she will be remembered for her humility, generosity and moral values which she instilled in her children. Her devotions were to all the saints, most especially St. Ann, Padre Pio and St. Jude.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 17th from 3PM-8PM at St. Ann Catholic Church, 704 Jefferson Street, Hoboken, NJ. A mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, 10AM at St. Ann Catholic Church.
