Karen Gail (White) Whitaker Obituary
Karen Gail Whitaker (nee White)

Karen Gail Whitaker (nee White), 70, of Ramsey, NJ passed peacefully on the morning of July 9, 2018. Karen grew up in Ridgefield Park where she met Bruce Whitaker and quickly became the love of his life. Karen and Bruce were married in 1971 and moved to Ramsey in 1974 where they have had a wonderful life raising their family. Karen worked as the office manager for McDonnell & Whitaker, LLC for many years. She was active in the Ramsey community and served as the president of several school PTOs, president of the Junior Women's Club, chair of three Senior Galas at Ramsey High School for her children, active member of her church and coach for the RBSA. Karen loved the beach and later in life split her time between Ramsey, NJ and Ft. Myers Beach, FL. Nothing was more important to Karen than her family. She would faithfully attend her children and grandchildren's sporting and school events and was regularly seen picking up her grandchildren from school in one of her brightly colored Jeeps. Karen was an avid cook and enjoyed preparing meals for "gatherings" in her home for family and friends. She enjoyed life and loved planning and going on vacations with her family. Karen inspired us all by often reciting a Dr. Seuss quote that says; "Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened." These are words for everyone to live by. Karen is predeceased in life by her mother and father, Helen and Walter White of Ridgefield Park and is survived by her husband of 47 years, Bruce Whitaker; children Melissa Oliver (Marc) of Ramsey, NJ; Keith Whitaker (Krista Lewis) of Sydney, Australia; and Jessica Kurtz (Jason) of Fort Myers, FL; brother Craig White (Gail) of Southbridge, MA; and sister-in-law, Susan Fosdick (John) of Quechee, VT. She was known as the fun loving "Kiki" to her 8 grandchildren Maxwell, Jakob, Carter, Owen, Hayden, Ella, Gwyneth, Presley and to many other children in both Ramsey and Fort Myers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2018 from 2-8 PM at The Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 55 Wyckoff Ave in Ramsey, NJ 07446. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a service for the Celebration of Her Life on Friday, July 13, 2018 at 10 AM at the church. Interment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park in Paramus, NJ. Arrangements are being handled by the Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home, Ramsey, NJ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Karen's name. Please send tributes, memories and condolences to
