Nicolet F. Minor

Upper Montclair - Nicolet F. Minor, 89, originally of Upper Montclair, N.J., died peacefully on September 1, 2018 surrounded by love. Born in Orange, she lived most of her life in Montclair and considered herself a true Montclairian.

Nicolet graduated from the Maryland College for Women with a BS in merchandising. A keen eye for style led to her first job at Lord & Taylor in NYC as Director of Publicity. She retired from the field of merchandising as the Human Resources Manager of Hahne & Co. in Montclair.

As a young mother she volunteered with the Junior League of Montclair, the Youth Employment Service and Recordings for the Blind. In later years, she was a vibrant member of the Women's Guild of the Presbyterian Church of Upper Montclair. In addition, she served her church family as both a Deacon and Elder. A talented and creative person, she was never without a project, be it painting, needlecraft, home decorating, sewing or knitting hundreds of sweaters for her four grandchildren.

Nicolet was happiest when surrounded by family, especially at the Jersey Shore. She was predeceased by her parents, Veneranta Kopp Frauenheim and Edward John Frauenheim originally of Pittsburgh, PA, her sister, Frances Frauenheim, of NYC, and her cherished husband, Elliott Manville Minor. She leaves behind three beloved children, Michele Shooter, of Little Falls, N.J., Edward John Minor, and his wife, Julie, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and Daphne Smith, and her husband, Paul, of Verona, N.J. She also leaves behind four grandsons who were the light of her life: Thomas Elliott Smith, Bradley Nelson Smith, Benjamin James Shooter, and Kyle Alexander Smith.
