Rosa (nee Valente) La Forgia

Rosa La Forgia (nee Valente) 78, of Rutherford formerly of Hoboken passed away on Monday, June 11, 2018. It is with profound sadness that we announce her passing.

Rosa was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. She loved life and found good in everybody. Rosa was a resident of Rutherford since 1973. Born and raised in Molfetta, Bari, Italy to the late Francesco and Elena Valente and came to the United States in 1966 on a work visa without her husband and with her two young children in tow. He later joined her. Rosa was a talented seamstress, who was a member of the International Ladies' Garment Workers' Union for twenty years. She even made her wedding dress. She went on to work for Sodexo at Felician College in 2006 before retiring but she never stopped working. Rosa passionately loved her adopted country and became a naturalized citizen in 1974. As a proud American, she praised the USA as "the best country in the world". As a devoted Roman Catholic, she said daily prayers and enjoyed reading Bible stories about her Saints. Rosa was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
