Salvatore J. Rotello

ROTELLO Salvatore J., 93, of Kansas City, MO, died Saturday, February 21, 2009, at the Garden Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Kansas City, MO.Mr. Rotello was born May 15, 1915 in New York City, NY to Laterio and Rosalena (Giamanco) Rotello. He married Marie Yeretzian of Ridgefield, NJ on December 12, 1945; she preceded him in death on January 10, 1976. He later married Louise Chiantera of Ridgefield, NJ on June 22, 1985; she preceded him in death in March 2008.Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Ross Craigie of Parkville, MO, and Andrea and Eugene Distelhurst of Bradenton, FL; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Benedetto Rotello of Long Island, NY, and Guitano "Tom" and Lucy Rotello of Los Angeles, CA; one sister and brother-in-law, Geraloma "Geri" and Melvin Glass; six grandchildren, John Craigie and his wife, Margaret, Ian Craigie and his wife, Jennifer, Morgan Craigie, Eugene Distelhurst, Eric Distelhurst and Ariana Distelhurst.In addition to his parents and wives he was preceded in death by one brother, Carmelo Rotello; and one sister, Dominica Montalto.Mr. Rotello was a purchasing agent for Rambusch in New York City from 1946 to 1980. He lived most of his life in Ridgefield, NJ before moving to Kansas City in 2007. He was a member of the Ridgefield Ambulance Corps for 43 years having served as Captain and later their Quartermaster. He was the Grand Marshall in several Ridgfield Memorial Day Parades. He was a member of the Ridgefield Senior Citizens.He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.Memorial services will be held at the Ridgefield, NJ Ambulance Corps Meeting Hall at a later date. Thurman Funeral Home, Richmond, MO is in charge of the local arrangements.
