HANKINS
Samantha "Sam," 50, of Paramus, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017.
Born in Newark in 1966 she moved to Orange in 1976. Sam attended Kent Place School in Summit from grade school though High School where she enjoyed many activities including Varsity basketball. Received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College in 1988 and her Juris Doctorate from Boston College Law School in 1993. Sam began her legal career at the New York County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney, working in the Trial Division and Special Prosecutions Bureau from 1993 to 2000. She then went on to work at J.P. Morgan Chase & Co. as the Managing Director, Senior Audit Manager, then CitiBank, NA as Managing Director, finishing with Deutsche Bank A.G. as the Director, Principal Audit Manager. Sam was a member of Riverside Church, New York, NY.
Cherished wife of William Burke. Devoted mother of the two greatest joys in her life, Wilson and Jackson. Treasured daughter of Jerry and Nell Hankins of Orange. Dear daughter-in-law of William and Mary Burke of Little Ferry and sister-in-law to Maryellen and her husband Barry and their daughter Jenna Finan of Raritan and John Burke and his fiancée Andrea Doyle and her daughters Megan and Ashley of Paramus. She is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family will receive friends on Monday March 6, 2017 from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at the Vander Plaat Memorial Home, 113 South Farview Avenue, Paramus, NJ. Funeral Service will be Tuesday March 7, 2017 at 11:00 am at the Riverside Church, 490 Riverside Drive, New York, NY. Interment George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus.
