Vito L. Menzella Obituary
Vito,L., age 85, died April 20, 2013 of Little Ferry. A veteran of the United States Army. He was born in Fairview, New Jersey, on September 12, 1927. He was a high school athlete for Cliffside Park High School, and a member of the football and basketball teams. Upon graduation from high school, he joined the Merchant Marines, then served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1951, from which he was honorably discharged as a Sergeant. He and his wife of 59 years, the former Emily Del Prete, settled in Little Ferry, New Jersey, in 1960. His passion was the love of family and friends, with more than some emotion reserved for the New York Giants and the New York Yankees. He was an active member of his church and the local senior citizens community in Little Ferry. He is survived by his wife Emily; children Leonard Menzella (Joanne Visconti), Debra Murphy, and Vito Michael Menzella (Deborah Sola); grandchildren Nicole Martin (Hugo), Michelle Menzella, Vito Rocco Menzella, Sean Murphy, and Ryan Murphy; great-grandchildren Vance Martin and Avery Martin; brothers Gus Menzella and Michael Menzella (Madeline); and the rest of his family and dear friends. Funeral from Vorhees Ingwersen Funeral Home, 59 Main Street, Ridgefield Park at 9 AM. Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Francis RC Church 9:30 AM. Entombment will be at Garden of Memories, Washington Township. Visitation Tuesday 5-9 PM. Donations may be made to Saint Margaret of Cortona Church, 31 Chamberlain Avenue, Little Ferry, NJ, 07643 to support restoration from Hurricane Sandy.
