Ferdinand Petrie

PETRIEFerdinand R., age 82, of Rutherford, NJ died Wednesday, October 10, 2007. Mr. Petrie was born in Hackensack, NJ. He was an accomplished artist. He worked in Advertising in NYC and had a gallery in Rockport, MA. He was the co-author of seven books and designed Francis Perkins' Commemorative Stamp in 1980. His works are featured in the Permanent Collections of the Smithsonian Institute, U.S. Supreme Court Historical Society, U.S. Navy Combat Art Collection and U.S. Coast Guard Art Collection. He was a member of The American Watercolor Society, New Jersey, Watercolor Society, Rock-port Art Association and Rutherford Art Association. He was an Elder and Deacon at Grace Episcopal Church located in Montclair, NJ. Mr. Petrie is survived by his wife Phyllis (nee Haddon), his son David and his wife Sue and his daughter Beth Leggett and her husband Paul. He is also survived by his brother Howard Petrie and his wife Jean and six grandchildren; Elisabeth, Gwendolyn, James, Rachel, Matthew and Timothy. Friends will be received on Friday, 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM at Collins-Calhoun Funeral Home, 19 Lincoln Avenue, Rutherford. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, 11 AM at Grace Presbyterian Church, Montclair.
