BURCH, Joel Craig August 30, 1979 - May 20, 2019 Joel died unexpectedly on Monday, May 20th at the age of 39. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Moreau and his daughters Beatrice, Esther and Greta, as well as his parents Jane Harvey and Mark Burch and his wife Donna MacDonald; his bother Simon; his many aunts, uncles and cousins - Craig, Susan, Amy and Jesse Burch; Anne Harvey, Peter, Emily and Patrick Wall; Sue Harvey and Burke Taylor; Barbara Kerr, Peter Thillaye, Mattia and Rowan Thillaye-Kerr. Joel was predeceased by his brother Liam. Joel was a renaissance man who loved books, cooking, photography, movies and life-long learning. He worked in the film industry and often remarked that he was ""so lucky to do work he loved."" Though Joel's life was cut short, he always knew how fortunate he was to have the limitless love and support of Mary and his girls. A Celebration of Joel's Life will take place on Friday May 31st, at 1:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin at 2:00 p.m. and a reception will follow. The celebration will take place at the TIFF Lightbox Malaparte, 350 King St. W., 6th floor, located just west of King and John. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Doctors Without Borders, an organization Joel supported for many years, or to the Trust Fund (GoFundMe) being established for Joel's wife and children, Mary, Beatrice (6), Esther (3), and Greta (2).
