Thomas Maher Obituary

Thomas J. Maher Jan. 24, 1940 - May 1, 2008 CANTERBURY - Thomas J. Maher, 68, of 16 Gooseneck Hill Rd., died late Thursday evening at his home. He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. on Jan. 24, 1940, the son of the late Ann (McGrath) Maher. Tom was employed for a number of years at the Pathmark Stores in New York and was last employed at Foxwoods Casino before retiring. He was a member of the Quinebaug Valley Alliance Church in Canterbury. He was married to Ivory (Spaulding) Novick Maher who survives him. Besides his wife he is survived by one son, Michael Maher of PA. One daughter, Christianna Maher of Norwich. Three step sons, Thomas Novick of Norwich, John Novick of Pomfret and Walter Novick of Canterbury. Two sisters, one grandson and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Voluntown Baptist Church, 52 Main St., Voluntown. Burial will follow in Pachaug Cemetery Griswold. A calling hour will be held Tuesday from 1-2 p.m. at the church. Guillot Funeral Home, 75 So. B St., Taftville is in charge of arrangements.

Dad, although we had our differences in the past, I am so glad that we got to reunite and be in each others lives again. I only wish that we had more time to share.
