Diane Dunnet Obituary

It is with sadness that the family of Diane Dunnet (nee Hannah) announce her sudden passing at the age of 73, at her home in North Vancouver.

Diane grew up in Trail, BC, graduated from JL Crowe High in 1966, and went on to UBC, graduating in 1970. She met the love of her life Gordon at a library and they wed in 1973. Diane always told this story as it was one more reason to love the library. She taught at Canyon Heights Elementary and later became the librarian at Capilano Elementary. She spoke fondly of her former students.

Diane was a devoted mother with many life-long friends. She loved reading, quilting and was an avid baker, always trying new recipes. Diane loved to travel but it was trips to the family cabin on Hornby Island she loved the most. In 2019, she became a proud grandma.

Diane was a remarkable woman who will be dearly missed.

Diane was predeceased by her father, Henry Mark Hannah, and is survived by her husband, Gordon; sons, Allan (Ann) and Ross (Kayleigh); grandson, Maxwell; mother, Thelma Hannah; sister, Patricia Hannah; and aunt, Isobel Thompson (Nihls).

Due to Covid-19, a Celebration of Life is on hold. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Kidney Fund of Canada.

Diane was an amazing mom. She loved her family so much and just adored her new grandson. She had all kinds of quilt ideas and so excited about her new role as grandma. Taken away too soon. We all are so shocked that she is gone. We wish her family well. Gord has been such a supportive husband and our heartfelt condolences go out to him and the whole family.. Stay strong and always remember what a talented loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend she has been to all of us. We will really miss her.
