Paul Macdonald passed away suddenly near his home in Osoyoos, British Columbia on the morning of June 22, 2017 after a short battle with cancer.

Born in London, Ontario, Paul travelled across Canada as a boy with his family, first to Calgary, Alberta, before settling in North Vancouver, British Columbia. There, Paul became a local business owner and member of the North Shore Executives Association, and a passionate coach and volunteer with the North Shore Girls Soccer Club. True to his Scottish roots, few things surpassed Paul's love of golf. Upon early retirement, Paul relocated to Osoyoos to spend his best days golfing and consuming novels in the sun, by the lake. Braving the cold only to visit his family, Paul's winters were spent in Mexico on the course and lounging poolside.

Paul was the father to Nicole and Melissa who he shared with his former wife Lorraine, brother to Craig and Beth, son to Doug and Virginia, and friend to countless more.

His family sends their deepest gratitude to those who supported him through thick and thin. A simple man, Paul asked that no special measures be taken upon his death.

Paul spoke of his family in very loving terms, especially Nicole and Melissa. He was so proud of them. All of his friends in Mazatlan will miss him greatly. He was a fixture at the pool (of course, after golf); reading probably three books a week and then sharing them with friends. We had many conversations about authors, life in general, family, friends, and often - hotel management. You are all in my prayers.

Enjoying Carnival parade with Paul in Mexico.
I am so sad to learn that Paul passed away. He was a good friend who I met in Mazatlan, Mexico and who I spent 2-3 weeks with down there every year for about the last 10 years. It will not be the same without him there to give reports on his golf game each day and share pool time and many, many dinners.

What very sad news. We have fond memories of Paul through the soccer years when our daughters played together. Paul gave a lot of volunteer hours to the North Shore Girls Soccer Club, as well as to his daughter's teams. Paul's other love was golf and it was always enjoyable to play with him. Our deepest condolences to Melissa and Nicole, his family and friends. We'll remember his laugh.

While I am very sad at Paul's passing, I have very fond memories of Paul at family gatherings where we would share opinions about sports over cold beers. I also remember some very early morning rounds of golf with Paul & Doug with first beers appearing around 9AM. I regret not keeping in touch with Paul over the last couple of years, especially when I was in Osoyoos each summer but too busy to duck away to have a beer. I will certainly learn from that and never forget that health, family & friends are precious. RIP Paul. My first beer after golf tomorrow will be in your honor.
