David Lee Wright peacefully passed away at his home in Mount Jackson, VA, on Saturday, May 15, 2021, at 7:18a.m., with his family nearby.

David was born in Arlington County, VA, on August 2, 1957. He was the son of the late Betty Swim and Bill Conley. He was 1 of 8 children.

David was an avid outdoorsman that enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and the Dallas Cowboys. He was an Army Veteran. His greatest joy was found in being surrounded by his large family, whom he loved wholeheartedly. Being a family man was the core of who he was as a person. He volunteered to help raise three of his grandchildren: Jay, Lexi, and Zoey. His proudest accomplishments in life, were the sacred bonds and love that he shared with each member of his family.

David is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, two brothers, and one granddaughter.

David has physically left this world to be with God, but he is eternally memorialized in the hearts and memories of his family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Janice Wright, whom he spent the last 23 years of his life with, and married on August 27, 2016; his children, Mattie Wright (Charles), David Penley (Alyssa), Crystal Penley (Chris), Laura Penley (Steven), Tracy Douglas (Neil), Robin Pence (Ryan), Richard Pence (Stephanie), Bobby Pence (Jennifer), Danny Pence (Kayla); one sister; two brothers; 28 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.

Family will receive friends on Saturday May 22nd from 1pm-2pm, immediately followed by a service at 2pm. Services will be held at Dellinger Funeral Home, 5997 S. Main St. Mt. Jackson, VA 22842. Reverend Stephanie Heishman-Litten will officiate.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of his life at 10685 Old Valley Pike Mt. Jackson, VA 22842 directly following the service.

David was a good friend more like family he was kind caring and loved his family and cared for all his friends he always checked to see how me and my family was doing after Richard and richie passed he will be missed dearly and never forgotten fly high my friend love always from judy davis and family prayers live and hugs to the family.
