Gregory Surbey Obituary

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Gregory Charles Surbey, 37, on February 5, 2021.

He resided in Nashua, NH and was born in Fairfax, Virginia on October 31, 1983; the son of Glen C. Surbey and Lisa A. Surbey and mother, Debra Wise-Surbey of Coolville, OH.

He was a graduate of James Madison High School, Vienna, VA and attended George Mason University, Fairfax VA where he studied computer science. He worked over 15 years in the computer engineering field as a PKI Engineer at MIT, Lexington, MA and Senior Engineer for DevOP at PeopleNet and AT&T. Recently he was working on a personal startup project as Chief Architect at Stealth Start Up. He built his first computer at the age of 13.

In addition to his parents, Greg is survived by his brothers, Stephen, Michael and Wyatt Surbey as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Greg looked forward to doing so much in his life and wanted to start a family of his own. His passion was hiking, skiing, kayaking, and riding his motorcycle with his father and friends. He was passionate about politics and he loved this country; he was a true patriot.

He was computer savvy, had an uncanny ability to solve any problem. He had a curious nature, was kind, smart, and would do anything to help family and friends. We will miss your smile, your sense of humor, your laugh and your generosity, but most of all, we will miss YOU. You will be forever in our hearts.

A Memorial Service in his home town in Virginia will be on April 17, 2021 at 11 AM. The Service will be at the Mclean Bible Church, 8925 Leesburg Pike, Vienna, VA 22182, (703) 639-2000 where the service will be lead by Pastor Carly Lundi. Memorials may be made in his name and sent to the Church.

So out of touch that I just found out about this, Greg. So sorry that your road came to an end like this, so abruptly, when your good spirit should have stretched on and on for many more miles. Rest in peace, my friend.

In the short amount of time I knew Greg he quickly became someone I wanted to hang out with, he was generous, kind, and caring. He had a sense of humor I could relate to and found ways to make me laugh.
Peace be with you Greg, it was way too soon.
