John D. "Sonny" Williams Jr., 76, of Front Royal, Virginia passed away on Thursday, January 21, 2021 at Skyview Springs Nursing Home in Luray, Virginia.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at 1 PM at Prospect Hill Cemetery in Front Royal with Pastor Jim Williams officiating.

Sonny was born on October 9, 1944 in Front Royal to the late John Sr. and Ruby Norman Williams. He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, WB and Irene Norman; son, Jason Williams; sister, Connie Sargent and grandson- in-law, John Wolfrey.

He retired from Kent Cartridge as a ballistics technician. He loved watching the Washington Redskins, listening to the radio and above all his family. He kept everyone up on the stock market and the weather. He had a passion for gardening, his tomato plants, hunting and fishing. He will be greatly missed by all.

Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Janet Flint Williams; son, John Williams III; two daughters, Sharon Matthews (Howard) and Karyn Williams (Jim); sister, Linda Airhart (David); nine grandchildren, Megan Wolfrey, Joshua Williams, Danielle Zarcufsky (Rama), Kristen Baumann (Josh), Jimmie Williams (Colleen), Justin Matthews (Erika), Brittany Fogle (Zack), Drew Chowning and Brooklyn Williams and six great grandchildren, Anthony Baumann, Jasmine Baumann, Elliott Matthews, Zakiya Zarcufsky, Lyla Fogle and John Fogle.

Arrangements are being handled by Maddox Funeral Home, Front Royal, Virginia.
