Anna Schneider Obituary

SLEEPY HOLLOW – Anna Mary Schneider, 19, of Sleepy Hollow, tragically passed away Saturday, July 4, 2009.

She was born March 24, 1990, in Arlington Heights.

She was an accomplished competitive swimmer with numerous trophies and awards, a certified scuba diver, and a passionate surfer.

She was a gifted vocalist who traveled to Europe with the Elgin Children's Chorus and sang with Vienna's boys' choir.

She sang with the Chorale at Dundee Crown High School, where she graduated in 2008.
She traveled the world visiting Australia, Italy, France, Austria, Germany, Turks and Caicos, the Cayman Islands, the Bahamas, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Mexico and Puerto Rico.

She was chosen to participate in Shedd Aquarium's research program on a ship in the Bahamas.

Her dream of attending the University of Hawaii to study marine biology was realized her freshman year.

She was excitedly looking forward to her sophomore year.

God gave us Anna because we were the right parents to allow her to show the world her light and her gifts.

She came to show the world that true beauty comes from within, and it's about simple kindness and strength of character, loving yourself and others with an open heart. This is pure love.

These are the gifts that God brought her to the world to share.

Now is the time God wants these gifts to be truly realized. She was the most beautiful person, inside and out.

Her light, love, and laughter were a true witness to Jesus Christ. She had an infinite love for her friends.

We will love and miss her eternally.

She is survived by her parents, Lawrence and Martha Schneider, of whom she was a loving daughter; her dear brother, Phil, his wife, Lindsay, and their two children; her maternal grandmother, Mary Frans; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins; and many, many loving friends.

The visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, July 9, at Miller Funeral Home, 504 W. Main St., West Dundee. The visitation will continue from 9 a.m. Friday, July 10, at the chapel until the at 10 a.m. Mass celebration at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 845 W. Main St., West Dundee. Interment will follow immediately.

Her love for the ocean and her drive to make the world a better place are why, in lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a contribution to the following nonprofit organizations.
The proceeds from donations will contribute directly to marine conservation programs that she was involved with in Hawaii and Bimini.

I had the pleasure of having Anna in my Dundee-Crown French classes and also to take her to France on our school trip. It was great fun for me to introduce her,a world traveler,to France and it's culture.Much of her writing in French spoke of her love for the ocean. I'll always remember her sunny smile and sense of humor.
All my condolences go out to Anna's family and friends.
Fondly,

We had the pleasure of knowing Anna through our son Nick, as they attended the Senior Prom together. She was a truly beautiful girl inside and out and we are so very very sorry. She was always so wonderful and supportive to Nick and he is devastated to have lost this amazing friend. She was truly a blessing as we hardly knew her but knew she was the meaning of the word love.

We only know of Anna via her uncle and aunt, Chuck and Lori Frans, who are our friends and neighbors in Marietta, Ga. Our hearts are broken for all her family and friends, yet we know God, in His infinite wisdom and grace, is in complete control and He alone will comfort and keep you in this time of great loss. Our prayers are with you all as you face the seemingly insurmountable challenges in the minutes, hours, and days ahead. What a testimony Anna's life was and is to her heavenly Father.

I am so very sorry for your loss. My family and I send our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to your family. She will be forever missed. Now we all have another angel looking over us.

July 8, 2009

I admire and respect Anna so very much because of what she did with her life. She accomplished so much and was such a passionate and motivated person. I was friends with Anna years ago, but haven't seen her in a long while. I wish we would have remained friends so we could share our love for the ocean together. I would have loved to travel to all the countries she visited, and to experience everything she has. You should all be very pround and happy for Anna, for she has gotten to do more in her 19 years than many people get to in their life.

R.I.P Anna. You're always loved, and never forgotten.
