Roger and I were in the same line of business. I did commute with Roger almost everyday to Chicago. I still see him seating on that special seat in 2nd quite car of Metra in the morning, His hobby of gardens and engineering design and planning were our topics of conversation every day. I learned a lot from him and he will always be my teacher and a great friend. Miss you Roger. RIP.

The world is a better place for everyone who knew Roger. My heart will always remember the Ramblin' Boy with the wry grin strummin' on the gut bucket. Roger's spirit filled a room and will remain forever in my memory.

To all Roger's family, my deepest condolences. He will be greatly missed especially the first thing on some mornings in the office lunch room when he and I used to get our coffee and chatted a bit. He always made me laugh (with a twinkle in his eye) by asking how I was and I would respond that it was too early to tell but that he should ask me again at 5:00 o'clock. I join all my colleagues in mourning a great loss.

To all his family and friends I knew there was something special about Rog when we got acquainted back in the 70's and early 80's. We came together at the Hartland Forge in Hartland, Ill. He used to call me "boss" which was a joke! Rog didn't need a boss! He was the most cooperative and congenial person I ever met. He and Al Fyfe and I worked together for three years. I should say laughed. We had more fun than any three people should be allowed. I would like to extend my deepest sympathy to his family and friends. He will be truely missed.

To Rachel especially--your father was so utterly devoted to you, your life, your journey. He set an amazing example of parenthood, and I was lucky enough to chat with him frequently on your behalf--each time re-evaluating my own parenting to see if it measured up to his standard. We were all blessed to have shared a path with him.

Very rarely do you run across such a genuine,
kind-hearted, friendly, caring soul. I met Roger several years ago commuting from the Woodstock Station.
I looked so forward to his smile, silly jokes, updates and friendly chats each morning. He quickly became a very dear friend to my entire family. Our lives were truly blessed by his friendship and he will be missed and always remembered. As we mourn the loss of a dear friend our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences go out to his entire family and all who share in this very sad loss.

I feel blessed to have known Roger. I will always think about the joy he brought into a room (especially when he laughed), and the patience that he had with a group of giggling middle school girls on a sleepover at 2 in the morning. He was an amazing father to my good friend and someone we all respected for his wisdom and outlook on life.

Roger was a true force of goodness in this world and I will never forget him.

I'll miss his early morning drive-throughs as we set up the farmers market on Tuesdays. Just time to say hello and wish each other well. Always a ready smile, always ready to lend a hand. I guess it is always this way with the good ones, but he left too soon.

To all of the family, we send our prayers and condolences and are sad to hear of Roger's death.
Roger was the inspiation for many wonderful moments at Marian Central and my great Friend, as he "stepped in" as my date for my "66" Senior Prom, while my Boyfriend was stationed in Germany. He instilled a love for life and music in all. We met last at Marian's "Sound of Music" Reunion. His warmth, smile and giving Spirit touched all he met. Roger, you are a gift to us all, and we will miss you.

It's hard to find the words to express our shock and sorrow over Roger's passing. I am so honored to have had him as a step-father. From the age of 7, Roger was a generous host, and above all, a loving and always entertaining friend. When our mom passed, he supported us through that difficult time with loving grace, wisdom, and of course, transformative music. It is incredibly hard to imagine life without his upbeat, deep voice on the other end of the phone. We will never forget you, Roger. You will forever live on inside our hearts and souls. I truly believe that you made all of us better people just for having known you. Love always, your stepdaughter, Becky

I still can't (or don't want to) believe that Roger is gone. After my mom passed away, he was no longer just my step dad, he became a great friend. He was one of the few people in my life I could always count on. He was a gentle giant with a heart of gold. An outstanding father, a fabulous musician, a dear man. I miss you, Roger, and I always will.
