TOMMIE JOE TRUMBLE "TJ" PORTAGE, IN
Tommie Joe "TJ" Trumble, age 85, of Portage, passed away on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at the Jesse Brown VA Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He was born on September 17, 1926 in San Angelo, TX to Charles and Minnie (Seymour) Trumble who preceded him in death. Tommie was an Army veteran who served in WWII in the 101st Airborne. He was a retired Iron Worker for American Bridge Company and a member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite Valley of South Bend, the White Shrine of South Bend, The Rose of Croix, and also Portage Senior Citizen Club. He was raised as a Baptist. Tommie is survived by his loving wife, Dixie (Zumalt) Trumble of Portage; sons: Tommie Lee (Peggy) Trumble of Valparaiso, Charles Henry Trumble of Sussex NJ, and Terrill Justin (Susan) Trumble of Middleburg, FL; daughters: Barbara Jean (Earl) Cowsert of Whitewater, WI and Brenda Jayne (Jeffrey) Willey of St. Peters, MO; brothers: Bobbie (JoAnn) Trumble of AR and James Trumble of AR; sister, Peggy (Dub) Rose of AR; 13 grandchildren: Kristin Ferry, Nathan Trumble, Matthew and Gregory Cowsert, Richard and Russell Krueger, Shannon Busler, Joshua, Nicole, Sam and T.J. Trumble, Leigh Peretta, and Christina Williams; 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Alonzo Clifford Trumble; a sister, Doris Bruton; and a brother, Leroy Trumble. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011 at 12:00 noon at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home Portage Chapel, 6941 Central Ave., Portage, IN with Pastor Jeffrey Willey officiating. Friends and Family may visit with the family from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 noon at the funeral home. Cremation will be performed by Heritage Crematory, Portage, IN. Mr. T was like a grandpa to me. I knew him my entire life and spent many days at his house along with Mrs. T. I have spent many a day sitting in their front yard visiting with them and my parents. My son has enjoyed the time spent there as well. He will be greatly missed!
