Brother Eddie Parrott was born on July 9, 1935 in Lilbourn, MS to Elder Monroe Parrott Sr. and Missionary Mary Parrott. He departed this life July 25, 2014. Eddie was the youngest of five children. He was preceded in death by both of his parents; wife, Lorraine; three sisters: Mattie Holmes, Callene McWilliams and Catherine Richard; and one brother, Monroe Parrott. He professed belief in Christ at a very young age at the Church of God in Christ in Lilbourn, Missouri under the leadership of Elder C.E. Edmond. Eddie was a faithful member of Saints Home C.O.G.I.C. until his health failed. He came to Gary, Indiana after finishing high school in 1953. On his 18th birthday he was hired at Inland Steel Corp. where he worked for 17 years. Eddie served his country in the Korean Conflict and performed with the European Theater and was honorably discharged from the United States Army. After serving his country Eddie moved to Gary and settled in with his family. He met Janie Allen and they married. To this union son Eddie Parrott Jr. was born. After leaving Inland Steel he entered the teaching profession with the Hammond Indiana School System, where his teaching career spanned 27 years, retiring in 1997. Eddie graduated from O'Bannon High School in New Madrid, Missouri, received a B.S. degree in education from St. Joseph's College (East Chicago, Indiana), Master of Education from Valparaiso University (Valparaiso, Indiana), 30 hours plus his master's degree, including a principal's certification from DePaul University (Chicago, IL). Eddie enjoyed quartet singing. He sang with many groups in the city, including the Heaven Bound Quartet with whom he sang with for more than twenty years. He leaves to cherish his memory: 1 son Eddie Parrott Jr. grandson Travis McGuire. Special friend Hattie Scott and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation Friday July 31, 2014 from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. Family Hour from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Guy & Allen Chapel, 2959 W. 11th Ave. Gary, IN. Funeral service Saturday, August 1, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at New Life Church, 5444 Harrison St. Gary, IN. Pastor Preston Ezell. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park.
