Arthur F. Young FORMERLY OF LANSING, IL - Arthur F. Young left this earth to be with his Lord on May 28, 2018. Arthur was born to John and Emma Young on April 11, 1921; joining his siblings, Huldah, William, Stella, Clara, Hattic, Leona and Kenneth. Subsequently the youngest member of his family arrived, Lorraine. Arthur became the dashing groom of Laura M. Mohr on August 7, 1943, celebrating 66 years of marriage prior to her passing. Their marriage was blessed with three children: Janice (Ernest) Saville (Post Falls, ID), Jo Anne (Gerald) Palko (St. John, IN) and John (Debbie) Young (Danville, KY). As the years passed they warmly welcomed seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Reggie) Dilliard, Julie (John) Hoffman, Elizabeth (Jacob) Niete, Andrew (Alissa) Palko, Matthew Palko, Jodi Saville, and Jeanie Saville, as well as seven great grandchildren: Dominic and Christopher Bouscio, Jackson and Carson Dilliard, Lucy Hope Niete, Benjamin Joseph Palko and William Michael Palko. Arthur served in the US Navy during War II. He was first stationed at Great Lakes for Boot Camp and then transferred to Navy Pier as a Section Leader. He received signal flag training before his transfer to Pensacola, Florida for flight training. When he completed his naval training Laura joined him in California where he was stationed at the San Diego Naval Base on North Island and Camp Kearney. Arthur was blessed with having a wonderful extended family which included his Mohr "Girls" and their spouses as well as Melvin and Daniel Mohr and their spouses. During his later years Arthur was truly blessed with the daily companionship and care from Alfred Pruis, Pawel Waldmann, Boguslaw Chmielik and occasionally Marek Gnyp. Arthur's memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at 11:00 AM at St. John Lutheran Church, Wentworth Avenue and Randolph Street in Lansing, IL. A private burial will have taken place at Oak Glen Cemetery in Lansing prior to his memorial service. Art lived his entire life as if he lived in Heaven on earth. We have been truly blessed in so many ways by his kindness, thoughtfulness and compassion. Our heavenly Father called Arthur home on the 28th day of May, 2018. His memory will live in our hearts forever. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to St. John Lutheran Church and/or the in Arthur Young's memory.
