Dennis E. Fleming LOWELL, IN - Dennis E. Fleming of Lowell, Indiana, formerly of Calumet City, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, January 28, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. Dennis was born on December 2, 1947, the son of Edmund and Julie (Szary) Fleming. He graduated from St. Victor's Grade School in Calumet City, IL, Bishop Noll High School in Hammond, IN and St. Joseph College with a degree in Accounting. On April 27, 1968 he married Cynthia Rucinski at St. Andrew's Church in Calumet City, IL. Dennis was in the US Army from 1968-1970, serving one year in Vietnam. He was a member of VFW Ehinger Bros. Post #8141 and Calumet Memorial American Legion Post #330, both of Calumet City, IL. He served as president of St. Andrew Athletics and coached football, basketball, and wrestling. Dennis is survived by his wife, Cyndy; two sons: Christopher and his wife Julie (Kovac) and Jason and his wife Jill (Dubowski); five grandchildren: Savannah, Logan, Cameron, Jessica and Paul Rojkowski; sister, Arlene (Chuck) McCay; brother-in-law, Thomas (Phyllis) Rucinski; nieces; favorite uncle, John Gaza; aunt, Louise Fleming; and his buddy, Sadie. He was preceded in death by a son, Kevin; parents; twin sister, Elizabeth; and in-laws, Bernard and Jean (Sweeko) Rucinski. Later in life, Dennis enjoyed being "Papa" to his grandchildren and attending their activities. He will greatly miss his traveling friends, Elden and Mary Anne LaHayne and the group he and Cyndy vacationed with in South Carolina. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, February 2, 2018 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at BURDAN FUNERAL HOME, 12901 Wicker Ave. (corner of US 41 and 129th Ave.) Cedar Lake, IN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held after visitation from 10:30-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 3, 2018 directly at St. Edward Catholic Church, 216 S. Nichols St., Lowell, IN with Father Richard Holy, officiating.
