Robert D. "Bob" Kochek PORTAGE, IN - Robert D. "Bob" Kochek, age 68, of Portage, IN, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018. He was born on November 23, 1949 in Gary, IN. Bob was a graduate of Lew Wallace High School, class of 1967. For 30 years, Bob was known as the taxi guy who operated A-1 Taxi. He spent his days doing what he loved - talking to new people and old friends, finding exotic foods to eat, and enjoying simple moments in life. Above all, Bob loved God with all of his heart and found great pleasure in attending First Church in Hobart, IN, where he was a member. To know Bob was to love him, and he will be missed by those that had the pleasure of experiencing his unique personality. Robert will forever be loved and remembered by his beloved children: Abigail Kochek, Amy Kochek and Aaron (Julie) Kochek; sister, Kathy (Joe) Zweig; brother, Jerome (Nancy) Kochek. He was preceded in death by his parents: George and Victoria Kochek; brother, Allen Kochek. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, June 11, 2018 directly at Pentecostals of South Lake, 1640 W. 93rd Ave., Merrillville, IN 46410 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Pentecostals of South Lake in Merrillville, IN 46410 with Pastor Robert Stroup officiating.
