ROBERT P. BURKHARTSMEIER HIGHLAND, IN Robert P. Burkhartsmeier, age 89 of Highland, IN, passed away on January 1, 2011. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 44 years, Josephine. Survivors include children: Alan (Elena) Burkhartsmeier of El Paso, TX, Susan (Kenneth) Koleno of Westmont, IL, Roberta (Bob) Mack of Indianapolis, IN, Valerie (Chuck) Bejarano of Wylie, TX and Karen (Joseph) LeHotay of Batavia, IL. He is also survived by two brothers; four sisters; 14 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, January 5 at 10:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Grace Church, 3025 Highway Ave., Highland, IN with Fr. Edward Moszur officiating. Friends may gather in the church at 10:00 a.m. Bob was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church for 56 years. He was a Veteran of World Ward II, and he was awarded the Purple Heart after his Liberator Bomber was shot down over the English Channel. Bob was employed by the Inland Employees Credit Union for 29 years, and he served as a branch manager from 1968-1983. In 1974, Governor Otis Bowen appointed Bob to serve as a representative on the Indiana Credit Union Board. www.burnskish.com
