Rose M. Paglis HIGHLAND, IN - Rose M. Paglis, age 95 of Highland, IN passed away on March 6, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born April 6, 1922 in New Castle, PA. She is survived by her children James (Greta) Paglis of Highland, IN, David (Carol) Paglis of Dyer, IN, Robert (Judy) Paglis, of Ottawa, IL, Linda (AJ) Milici, of Branford, CT, and Laura (Mick) Dwyer of Evansville, IN; multiple grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a sister Josephine Davelli of New Castle, PA. She was predeceased by her son, Anthony P. Paglis, her husband of 67 years James P. Paglis, and her brother Louis Costa of Columbus, OH. Rose was a gentle, kind soul (except when the topic of living in Florida arose.) She was a 1945 graduate of Youngstown College where she met her husband, Jim. They were married after he returned from the war on May 11, 1946. She was an intelligent woman who had a particular facility with languages. Under her college yearbook picture, was the phrase "She didn't have to be tall to be mighty in Latin." (Rose was a diminutive 4'11".) The family would like to express their eternal gratitude to her son and daughter in law, Jim and Greta Paglis, not only for her care, but the care of her husband, Jim, in their final years. Both Rose and her husband were able to remain in their home of more than 65 years; a great comfort to them and their family. Rose loved to read - whenever her children complained that they were bored, she would say, "Read a book!". To honor her spirit, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to: Lake County Public Library Foundation Endowment at: LCPL Foundation Endowment, Lake County Public Library, 1919 West 81st Ave, Merrillville, IN 46410 A memorial service is planned at the Chapel of Our Lady of Grace Church, 3025 Highway Ave. Highland, IN at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2018.
