Samuel (Sam) Robert Philips VALPARAISO, IN - Samuel (Sam) Robert Philips, passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2018, in Valparaiso, IN surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 10, 1992, to Bob and Mary Kay Philips. Sam is survived by his parents, Bob and Mary Kay Philips, sisters, Maggie and Kathryn, fur-sister, Ollie, and fur-son, Ruger Samson. He is also survived by his grandmother, Patricia Philips; aunts and uncles, Will Philips, Robin Frazier (Bob Zborowski), Julienne (Joseph Jr.) Gee, Peggie (Bob) Branham, Suzy Jamieson (Rod Jamieson), Douglas Philips (Rachel Minard), and Jim Frazier; cousins, Marissa (Dan) Kopp, Joey (Ellie) Gee III, Danny Frazier, Bobby Branham, Timmy (Megan) Branham, Greg Branham, Sarah Jamieson, James Jamieson, and Jacob Frazier. Sam was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Joyce Frazier, and Carl Philips. By the time Sam was three, his family knew they were in for a wild ride. Where there was mischief to be had, Sam would be the heart of it,but with a flash of his smile and eyes that would melt your heart, he was sure to get away with whatever trouble he had caused. Sam was a jokester. His energetic personality and laugh were contagious. As his father would always say, "Sam could sell ice to an Eskimo." It was that trait that made him a successful salesman in his medical sales career at Hear.com. In February 2016, Sam moved to Newella, OK where he accepted our Lord, Jesus Christ, as his Savior and was Baptized on May 1, 2016. He later moved to Miami, FL where he surrounded himself with a strong support system. His family is thrilled Sam had this support in Florida and Oklahoma, and that he was able to happily live his life to the fullest. Sam enjoyed snowboarding with his friends from Oklahoma, wakeboarding/waterskiing/sailing with his family at their lake house, hunting with his father, uncles and cousin in Arizona, hiking and watching movies with his friends, Matt LeDrew and Jake Tudor, and flying around Miami with his friends and fur-roommate, Louie. While living in Florida, Sam enjoyed working out with his roommate, James Loftus, as much as he liked his fast food. Sam also enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen, trying out new recipes and concocting fun treats for his fur-sister and fur-son. Sam had a heart of gold. His heart was bigger than most and once he took you into his life, he made sure you knew his love for you was unconditional. He was protective over his friends and family and would defend any of them in need. Sam was smarter than he knew, truly wise beyond his years. He never bragged about his good deeds, he kept them to himself and saw them only as his responsibility, knowing his reward would be in heaven and not on this earth. Sam's life was like a shooting star… or maybe more like a bolt of lightning… hot, fast, and over far too soon. His friends and family would do anything to have him back. He's missed dearly every day. A memorial to celebrate Sam's life will take place atthe First Presbyterian Church (3401 Valparaiso St, Valparaiso, IN 46383) on Saturday, June 30, 2018. Visitation will begin at 10:00am with service starting at 11:00am. MOELLER FUNERAL HOME handling arrangements.
