TIMOTHY ELLISON Obituary

TIMOTHY (TIM) ELLISON FORMERLY OF MUNSTER Born on January 4, 1954, Tim passed away suddenly on February 23, 2010 at home in Chicago. Tim is survived by his children: Peter Ellison of NY and Elisabeth Ellison of Portland, OR and his Significant Other, Lela Cirjakovic of Chicago. The second of eight children, Tim is survived by his siblings: Debra Ellison of Munster, Tomi Ann (Joseph) Alfieri of Kalamazoo, MI, Diane Ellison of Munster, Kevin Ellison of Chicago and Thomas Ellison of Chicago; nephews: Ryan (Kalie) Gailmard of FL, Sean (Gina) Gailmard of CA, Nicholas (Ashley) Alfieri of IA, Jordan Ellison of Munster, and James and Parker Ellison of Crown Point; six great nephews and one great niece; aunt, Wilma Ellison of Lansing, IL; uncle, Clint Ellison of FL; aunt, Cindy Watson of Munster and many cousins. Tim was preceded in death by his parents: Tom and JoAnn (Bubonovich) Ellison of Munster; brothers: James Ellison of Munster and Brian Ellison of Munster; maternal grandparents: Thomas and Helen Bubonovich of Hammond; paternal grandparents: Clint and Edith (Knapp) Ellison of Munster; uncle, Joseph Ellison of Lansing, IL, aunt, Barbara (Ellison) Kahn of Westchester, PA and several aunts and uncles. Tim was born in Hammond, IN, grew up in Munster, and for the last 23 years made Chicago his home. Tim attended St. Thomas More Grade School, Munster High School, Michigan Tech University and Purdue University. Tim was a member of the Pipefitters Union Local 597. Tim was a successful commercial real estate salesperson/broker in Chicago from 2004 thru 2008 and was the Hammond Times Music Critic in the 1980's. With a persona that at times made Tim appear "larger than life", Tim lived life on his own terms, had a "wicked" sense of humor and a "huge" heart. The greatest loves of Tim's life were his children, music and Soccer. Tim coveted everything Serbian and would joke about wanting to change his heritage. Tim fulfilled his dream of traveling to Serbia last summer and fell in love with the City of Belgrade. Tim coached Little League Baseball and played Adult Soccer with a passion. He was blessed with a beautiful singing voice, as well as the ability to play the guitar and always dreamed of "being discovered". Tim will be remembered on Sunday, February 28, 2010 from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Lakeview Chapel located at 1458 West Belmont, Chicago, IL 60657 (773-472-6300). A memorial service will begin at 5:00 p.m.

Dear Lela,
Bill and I just learned of Tim's passing yesterday and I have not been able to get him (or you) off my mind since. I can still see the two of you, so elegant, dancing at our wedding. Tim was so vital, so full of life, I can't believe he is gone so soon. Our deepest sympathies to you and to Tim's children and relatives. As we say, Bog da go prosti. Vecnaje pamja.

This message is being placed for Randi Sanders-Ellison, who does not have a computer....

To Lela Cirjakovic, I want to say I am so sorry for your loss and I know that he loved you so very much. And to Peter and Elizibeth and everyone in Tim's family, I love you all and I wish you could call me, as I am here in Mauai and would love to hear from all of you share photograph of Timmy. 808-572-1808.

Tim was the most tallented singer who can never be replaced.

It is so ironic that Timmy died on the same day in February that Timmy and I were married in 1988. After our marriage we had remained friends and I had never remarried.

I did not know Tim by any other means than a soccer forum, but I know that he will be missed greatly. My condolences and sympathy to his family and friends.

I'll never forget that flashing smile and yes, a wicked sense of humor. Had lots of fun times hanging out with Tim and my co-worker and good buddy Jon Smith.
Glad we got to see each other after many years, at Jon's recent birthday party. My condolences to all...... we won't forget you Tim.

So many fond childhood memories of the Ellison family in general; Tim was so full of energy and always smiling; even though many years and thousands of miles have been between us, I'm quite saddened. My heartfelt support out to the family.

To the Ellison family,

I was so shocked to hear of Tim's death. I had just had a conversation with him on facebook about a month ago. He still had that great sense of humor and made me laugh. He was a great guy and will always be remembered by all..

Tim was my first foreman on my first big job as a journeyman pipefitter. It was a huge job. Tim was a great leader and took me under his wing. I wish I had known him in his personal life from what I've read about him on here. He was unique, that's for sure. I'll always remember him showing up on a construction site wearing fancy jackets and boots. RIP Tim.

I had the pleasure to have lived next door to Tim in 1985. In that brief time of maybe one year, I can say today, I have never met a more interesting character then he. One that I will always think fondly of. I remember with great clarity how he came running out the door of the house wanting to show me his brand new Squier Jazz Bass he just bought. We marvelled together at this wonderful instrument. Another time he gifted me with a listen to his latest demo tape. I couldn't believe how much he sounded like a true star. Very good voice and a real talent. As we were both musicians I wish I'd have pursued developing a closer bond with him rather then settling for him as "a neighbor". I'll never forget you Tim! I wished I'd known you better. I know we'd have fought over musical differences of opinion.
