John J. Janicki "Jocko", age 75, of Crown Point, passed away Wednesday March 20, 2013 with is loving family by his side. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Judy (nee Dauksza); loving father of Greg (Iris); adoring Papa of his two granddaughter princesses Dakota and McKenzie; cherished brother of James (late Carol) and Chris (late Steve) Wilks; dearest brother- in-law of Linda (Tommie) Schremp; caring uncle to special niece, Karen Hladek; dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents: John and Marie (nee Wielgos); sister, Terri; brothers: Ken, Tim, and Bob. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 25, 2013 beginning with 9:15 AM prayers at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory, 14 Kennedy Ave. (corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville, IN to St. Mary Catholic Church, 321 Joliet Street, Crown Point, IN for 10:00 AM Funeral Mass with Fr. Patrick Kalich officiating. Cremation at Solan Pruzin Crematory to follow. Friends may visit with the family on Sunday March 24, 2013 from 3:00-7:00 PM at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home. Jocko graduated from Roosevelt High Class of 1956. He entered the Army in 1957 and served in the 82nd Airborne in Beirut, Lebanon as a Paratrooper. He retired after 41 years at NIPSCO as a Gas Serviceman and was a member of American Legion Post 369 East Chicago. Jocko loved his family, helping others, working in his yard, Four Winds Casino, and the many car excursions he and Judy took together.
