GUSTAVE J. WHITE "GUS" VALPARAISO, IN Gustave J. "Gus" White, age 93, of Valparaiso passed away on Friday, April 5, 2013. He was born on May 20, 1919 in Vejle, Denmark, the son of Alfred and Anna (Nielsen) White. Gus was a very proud WWII Veteran of the U.S. Air Force and retired from his career as a carpenter. He was a life member of the Porter Masonic Lodge 137, Shriners, American Legion Post 94 of Valparaiso, and the Order of the Moose Lodge 1357, Valparaiso. Gus enjoyed bowling, woodworking, fishing, bird watching, and most of all family gatherings. On May 8, 1943 in Chicago, Gus married Elsie L. Nelson, who survives, along with their children: Richard White of Myrtle Beach, SC, Carolyn (Matt) Such of Valparaiso, Nancy (Don) Beach of Valparaiso, and Donna (Dave) Zell of Chesterton; eight grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 9, 2013 at 1:00 PM at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with Rev. Victoria Ubben officiating. Burial to follow at Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday from 5:00-7:00 PM with a Masonic service at 7:00 PM.
