PATRICIA A. DAHLIN (NEE OZELIE) PORTER, IN Patricia A. Dahlin, born February 13, 1938, of Porter, IN, a beautiful, brave and courageous women went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, December 25, 2013. Patricia is survived by her loving husband, Carl L. Dahlin, Jr.; three sons: Brian (Denise), Carl Lewis and Christopher (Tiffany) Dahlin; three grandchildren: Jonathan, Brianna, and Jessica Dahlin; two brothers: Kenneth (wife, Susanne) and Thomas Ozelie; and two sisters: Nancy (late Walter) Jovanovich and Deborah Keeley; sister-in-law, Doris Hojcus (nee Dahlin); aunt, Celia Kaleta; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Preceded in death by parents: Stanley and Marie (nee Kaleta) Ozelie; and son, Carl Louis Dahlin III. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, January 3, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 6540 Central Avenue, Portage, IN with Pastor Frederick Hoover, officiating. Burial to follow at Chesterton Cemetery in Chesterton, IN. Visitation will be DIRECTLY at St. Peter Lutheran Church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of the services at 11:00 a.m. Mrs. Dahlin was a 1956 graduate of Bishop Noll Institute. From there, she began working in the Claims Department of Prudential Insurance agency in Chicago, IL. Later she was employed at George Lamb Insurance Agency in East Chicago, IN. She and her husband had owned and operated several businesses together including Dahlin's Tire Sales (later Master Tire Sales) in East Chicago, as well as The Edgewater Beach Motel at Johnson's (Porter) Beach in Porter, IN. Additionally, Mrs. Dahlin modeled clothing at local department stores including Lewin's Department Store in East Chicago, as well as department stores in Chicago. Mrs. Dahlin also had involvement in the political arena as well. She served as the Vice City Chairwoman of the East Chicago Republican Central Committee from 1976 to 1991. In 1984, she received the Elephant Award for her dedication and services to the Lake County, Indiana Republican Party. Also, for the last four decades, she served as a Vice Precinct Committeewoman. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate any donations that may help to defray her long-term medical costs and funeral expenses. Donations may be sent in care of Chris J.
