CARY - Louis R. Vitullo, 81, of Cary, died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington.
He was born July 2, 1924, in Chicago. In August of 1960, he married Betty Jelen in Glenview.
A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II.
Employed by the City of Chicago as its chief microanalyst until his retirement in 1979, he also gave lectures at Northwestern University to the law students. He developed the Vitullo rape kit, which is the standard in hospital use. Activities he enjoyed included snowmobiling and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years; two children, Robert (Jennifer) Vitullo of Prospect Heights and Joanne (John) Antosh of Mount Prospect; and two grandchildren, Jamie Vitullo and Tristin Engels.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and a brother.
The service and interment will be private for the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials made to The Salvation Army would be appreciated by the family.
